Upcoming Event: IG Live with Brea Baker, Author of ROOTED

Promotional flier for forthcoming IG Live with Brea Baker.

Join us for an upcoming IG Live with Brea Baker, author of Rooted: The American Legacy of Land Theft & The Modern Movement for Black Land Ownership (One World, 2024).

On Thursday, April 25th at 6:30 PM ET, join us for an IG Live (@blackwomenradicals) with freedom fighter and writer, Brea Baker! Working on the frontlines for almost a decade, first as a student activist and now as a national and global strategist, Baker is the author of the forthcoming book, Rooted: The American Legacy of Land Theft & The Modern Movement for Black Land Ownership (One World, 2024). Rooted delves into one of the nation’s first sins: stealing and hoarding the land. During the conversation, we will discuss Baker’s impetus to writing Rooted; why land rights and reparations are tethered to racial justice; why abolitionist Black feminist praxis is a mandate; and more.

About the Featured Speaker: Brea Baker is a freedom fighter above all else. As a sought-after writer, speaker, and anti-racism consultant, Brea brings her grassroots background to entertainment, philanthropy, higher education, and tech fields. With a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University, Brea believes deeply in the need for nuanced storytelling and Black culture as tools for change and contributes essays on race and gender to publications like ELLE, Harper’s BAZAAR, and Refinery 29. Her book, Rooted: The American Legacy of Land Theft & The Modern Movement for Black Land Ownership, will be published by One World (an imprint of Penguin Random House).
