Join us for an upcoming IG Live with Haitian feminist and human rights activist, Pascale Solages.


Closing out Haitian Heritage Month, for the 2nd Defend Black Women Salon Series join us a conversation with with human rights defender and activist, Pascale Solages, about an IG Live  “Haitian Feminists At The Vanguard” on Thursday, May 31st , 2022 at 6:30 PM EST.

We will discuss Solages’ leadership and organizing in Haiti and beyond; the importance of centering Haitian women and gender expansive organizers who have been at the vanguard of movement building; incorporating Haitian feminist thought and behavior in Black transnational organizing; and more. Solages will be joined by Trinice McNally, I Support Black Women Founder and Co-Creator of the Defend Black Women March and Jaimee Swift, Executive Director of Black Women Radicals and The School for Black Feminist Politics, and Co-Chair of 2nd Defend Black Women March.

The 2nd Defend Black Women March, which will be taking place on July 29-31st, 2022 in Washington, D.C., is in honor of Afro-Brazilian bisexual feminist, activist, and human rights defender, Marielle Franco, and Black Feminisms in Latin America and the Caribbean. About Pascale Solages: Lucia D. Pascale Solages studied Finance at the Quisqueya University and holds a degree in Gender and Development from the Catholic University of Louvain in partnership with the Training Center "Le Monde selon les Femmes" in Belgium. She also has a degree in Human Rights Education from Canada. She was a consultant for UNFPA in the Ministry for Women's Affairs and Women's Rights for two years. She was a member of the cabinet of the Minister of Women's Affairs and Women's Rights, Mrs. Marie Denise CLAUDE and of the Minister of Women's Affairs and Women's Rights, Mrs. Eunide Innocent. She is a founding member and general coordinator of the feminist organization NÈGÈS MAWON founded in 2015.  

She was the treasurer of the Haitian Coalition for Women and Health, she is now a member of the Board of Directors of the TOYA Foundation, a women's organization of which she has been a member since 2009. She is also a member of COTEM (Comité Technique Multisectoriel d'Appui au Quota). She represented the women's sector for two years in the Multisectoral Coordination Committee of the Global Fund in Haiti for HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. She is a former participant in the Francophone Youth Parliament of the Americas. As a journalist, she has worked for Radio Télévision Nationale d'Haïti, Magik9, Planet Haïti, Ticket Magazine and Radio Télévisions Caraïbes and Guadeloupe 1ère. 

She is a former candidate in the municipal elections of Port-au-Prince in 2015. She co-founded in 2018, the collective of committed citizens NOU PAP DÒMI for social justice, against corruption and impunity from the mobilization movement against corruption "PETROCARIBECHALLENGE".She is currently in the United States where she will soon begin a Master's degree in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies.
