Multidisciplinary Artist Doriana Diaz to lead Master Collage Workshops for The School for Black Feminist Politics

Black Women Radicals Visual Designer Doriana Diaz will lead multi-city master collage workshops for The School for Black Feminist Politics.


Multidisciplinary artist Doriana Diaz will lead a multi-city master collage workshops for The School for Black Feminist Politics, the political education hub of Black Women Radicals.

The first collage workshop will take place on Saturday, May 27th from 12:00 - 2:30 PM EST at Ìpàdé, located at 1734 20th St NW, Washington, DC 20009.

Tickets are $7. Please note: There is a 20 Person Capacity for the Workshop.

COVID-19 Protocol: Masks are required.

All proceeds from the ticket sales go to the Black Women Writers Project, a project that uplifts and celebrates the contributions and legacies of Black women and gender expansive writers by improving visibility of institution-based, community, and personal archival materials.

About the Collage Workshops: This series of classes delve into the practices of collaging as a ritual. Throughout the exploration of these practices. We will implement and enhance the practice as individuals as well as a collective. The theme of this series is honoring Black Women Radicals from their perspective cities of origin. We will experiment with visuals that curate our ideologies around radical womanhood, joy, glory, Black paradise, and more. Through discussion and artmaking, students will leave this course confident in the methods of collaging as a ritual for resistance.

About Doriana Diaz: Doriana Diaz is a multidimensional artist, archivist, and memory worker rooted in Philadelphia's soulful rhythms. As a teaching artist, Doriana has held a wide array of collage workshops around the city in spaces like The Sable Collective, Harriett's Bookshop, The African American Museum, Bok Bar and The Free Public Library’s Parkway Central location. Her archival collage work entitled 'A Declaration of Joy in Motion; Friday Night Voodoo' was chosen as the one-year anniversary poster for Rachel Cargel's Loveland Foundation in 2021. This honor was in partnership with The Loveland Foundation and The Akron Museum of Art. She believes art has DNA, Her work is an exploration of cultural agency, archival documentation, and rhythms of resistance and expansion.
