On Monday, October 20th between 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM, Black Women Radicals and the Asian American Feminist Collective celebrated the book launch, We Are Each Other’s Liberation: Black and Asian Feminist Solidarities (Haymarket Books) co-edited by Rachel Kuo, Jaimee A. Swift, and TD Tso! The book launch took place at Mercury Store in Brooklyn, New York. This event was sponsored by Black Women Radicals, Asian American Feminist Collective, Asian American Writers’ Workshop, and Haymarket Books.

Emerging out of a collaborative project between Black Women Radicals and the Asian American Feminist Collective, We Are Each Other’s Liberation: Black and Asian Feminist Solidarities offers an urgent call for the just future we might build together. Drawing out lessons from the revolutionary work of movement forebearers and bringing together organizers, artists, journalists, poets, novelists, and more, this collection envisions a cross-racial and internationalist politics.

During the event, Kai Naima Williams opened the program by reading a poem featured in the anthology and the panel discussion featured Akemi Kochiyama-Ladson, Rachel Kuo, Jaimee A. Swift, and TD Tso.

Speaker Bios: 

  • Rachel Kuo is an assistant professor of gender and women studies and Asian American studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, author of Movement Media: In Pursuit of Solidarity (Oxford University Press) & cofounder of the Asian American Feminist Collective. 

  • Jaimee A. Swift is the founder and executive director of Black Women Radicals & The School for Black Feminist Politics.

  • TD Tso is a feminist writer, editor, cultural organizer, and cofounder of the Asian American Feminist Collective.
