Like Nannie Helen Burroughs, we are specializing in the wholly impossible.
On October 1, 2019, Black Women Radicals (BWR) was officially launched as an organization.
Since our launch in 2019, we have created and hosted over 200 free in-person and online events and initiatives that showcase the power of Black feminist political and popular education.
Through our narrative and oral storytelling platforms and grassroots, community-oriented archival campaigns, we have documented more than 100 profiles and interviews on past and present Black feminist activism and leadership.
Our community is global and we have partnered with Black feminist activists and organizations around the world, including in Australia, Brazil, France, Canada, Germany, Haiti, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, the United States, and more.
Honoring those who have paved the way for us, we are proud to have collaborated, profiled, and worked with feminist activists and leaders of the Black Panther Party, Combahee River Collective, the Civil Rights Movement, Kitchen Table: Women of Color Press, Young Lords Party, Organization of Women of African and Asian Descent, the Stonewall Rebellion, and Southhall Black Sisters.
And in wake of government repression and suppression, we continue to do the work of building radical Black feminist realities and possibilities.
Although it’s been six years of BWR, we are only just beginning.
From the bottom of our heart, we thank you for your continued support of Black Women Radicals.
